My “Why”
I’ve been involved with awareness, advocacy and fundraising for cancer causes most of my adult life so when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer I looked EVERYWHERE for information, resources and ways to get involved. I discovered there wasn’t much.
Once I found out I had the chromophobe subtype, it was even harder to find information specific to chromophobe. I was quite disheartened to learn that not much research had been done regarding chromophobe and that there were currently no treatments created specifically for chromophobe aside from surgery. I met Katie (COA founder and president) soon after COA began. She was a wealth of knowledge about all things kidney cancer, and all things chromophobe. I was instantly excited to partner with her however I could. I was honored when I was asked to join the board, as awareness and funding research has become a top priority for me.
COA Year Two
As COA continues into its second year, I’m looking most forward to working with the board to create unique and innovative ways to raise funds and spread awareness. I’m also looking forward to making more connections within the kidney cancer and chromophobe community.
